About Us
The Purpose of Our Community and Our Covenant is as Follows:

To cultivate an atmosphere that encourages spiritual, moral and intellectual growth.

To integrate our lives around Christian principles and devotion to Christ.

To remove whatever may hinder us from our calling as a Christ-centered community.

To encourage one another to see that living for Christ involves dependence on God’s Spirit and obedience to his Word, rather than a passive acceptance of prevailing practices.

We believe that biblical standards will show themselves in a distinctly Christian way of life. This lifestyle involves practicing those attitudes and actions the Bible portrays as virtues, and avoiding those the Bible portrays as sinful.
Refusal to conduct oneself in harmony with the objectives and the rules of the Association as herein set forth shall constitute cause for termination of the privilege to occupy the grounds.

We are a community of believers committed to living according to the truth and character of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the heart of all we do is a deep desire to honor him-through humility, purity, justice, and truth-just as Jesus modeled for us.
As followers of Christ, we recognize that with the blessings and privileges of belonging to this community comes responsibilities. We take seriously our calling to live by God's Word, for "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16)
Our biblical foundation is built upon and expressed in Jesus’ two great commandments: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind,” and, “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matt: 22:37-39).
At Alton Bay Christian Retreat Center, we humbly covenant together to live out these truths - to love God fully, to welcome others graciously, and to depend on the power and grace of God in all that we do.

Our Mission
To be a place that welcomes people to experience God through Christian community and Biblical truth, impacting the New England church and beyond.
The Alton Bay Campmeeting Association is a year-round Christian Retreat Center, which exists to promote the cause of Christ through the proclamation, study, and application of God’s Word. As a specialized ministry, the Association seeks to fulfill this purpose in a relaxed atmosphere that provides opportunity for fellowship, reflection, prayer, rest, recreation, and participation in a wide variety of activities geared to spiritual life and growth.
Consistent with this purpose, the following emphases will be given priority:

EVANGELISM – Historically, Alton Bay has been a place where people of all ages have heard the Good News of the Gospel and have responded through personal faith in Jesus Christ. We seek to remain faithful to this commitment.

EDIFICATION - As a Bible Retreat Center, we seek to promote spiritual growth and development through the teaching and preaching of God’s Word. Fellowship, prayer, music, and the arts all contribute greatly to this goal of building up the individual members of the Body of Christ.

ENABLING – We seek to promote the cause of Christ through the recognition, cultivation, and use of individual spiritual gifts and abilities. Various ministries of the Association help prepare and equip persons for more effective service to Christ and His Church.

ENRICHMENT – We seek to minister to the needs of the total person by providing opportunity for, encouragement of, physical rest and relaxation, recreation, freedom from emotional stress, and enjoyment of God’s created world as evidenced in the natural beauty of our surroundings.
WE ACKNOWLEDGE THAT ALL OF OUR EFFORTS ARE TO BE DIRECTED TO THE END OF GLORIFYING GOD AND ENJOYING HIM FOREVER.
Statement of our Faith

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible authoritative Word of God.

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose in dwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
